Carla Alexandra da Costa e Vasconcelos Is a Pediatric Dietician in the Hospital de São João do Porto. She took a Bachelor degree in Sciences in Clic Nutrition in the Faculdade de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação do Porto in April 2002. She became a Specialist in Clinic Nutrition in April 2006 in the same University as her bachelor degree and has a doctorate degree in the field of Hereditary Diseases of the Metabolism.
From October 2002 to March 2003, with the authorisation from the Doctor Calda Afonso, she took a volunteer internship as a dietician in the Pediatric Service of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário São João.
From March 2003 until now-a-days practices as dietician in the Centro Materno Pediátrico do Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João (CHUSJ), EPE, supporting the Pediatric Hospitalisation and External Pediatric Appointments collaborating with the Funcional Units of Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Nutrition, Pediatric gastroenterology, Pediatric Neurology, Child psychiatry, General Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric cardiology and from May 2005 with the Functional Unit of Metabolic Diseases - Pediatrics. Since July 2013, do to CHSJ, EPE, internal reorganisation is part of the Dietetic and Nutrition Unit of CHSJ, working 40 hours per week, keep her functions in the Pediatric services, adding the support to the Gynaecology hospitalisation and external appointments of Nutrition-Medicine of Reproduction and appointments of General Nutrition. Currently and since 2017 she belongs to the Centro de Referência de Doenças Metabólicas do CHUSJ.
Since July 2003 to February 2004 practiced as a dietician in the Hospital de São Gonçalo. S.A., giving support to the specialities of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Obstetrics.
Since October 2002 is/was collaborator of 6 clinics and medical offices where she practices nutrition appointments.
Since October 2015 orients professional internships in the Dieticians Order.
In the school year of 2005/2006 practiced as faculty of the course Dietetic and Nutrition of the bachelors degree in Nursing of the Universidade Fernando Pessoa.
From September 2003 she teaches theoretical and theoretical-practical classes to the 4th year in the Faculdade de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação da Universidade do Porto, inserted in the course unit of Pediatric Nutrition (Diabetes in Pediatric ages and Hereditary Diseases of the metabolism in Pediatric ages).
Since 2016, she teaches theoretical and theoretical-practical to the students of Post Graduation in Pediatric Nutrition: from conception to the adolescence, from the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia da Universidade do Porto, inserted in the Pediatrics course unit (Feeding after the first year of life).

She has to Scholarships of Casen Fleet Study / Orphan Europe of the Metabolic Diseases Society for the project - Elaboration of grids with quantitive composition of amino acids and protein content of a group of vegetal origin products and tool creation of help to the nutricional treatment of patients with hereditary diseases of the protein metabolism.
Since the beginning of her activity as a dietician she taught 176 hours in several fields.
She has been an instructor, participated in the organization, moderation and has frequented: several actions for training and national and internacional congresses.
