Joan C. Arvedson, PhD, CCC/SLP, BCS-S, is Program Coordinator of Feeding and Swallowing Services at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She is Clinical Professor in Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Pediatrics, Medical College of Wisconsin. She has 3 books in publication and numerous articles in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Arvedson is an internationally recognized expert in pediatric dysphagia. She was awarded Honors of ASHA in 2016 and is an ASHA Fellow.

Joan Arvedson, PhD, CCC/SLP, BCS-S, is an internationally renowned clinician and teacher focused on pediatric swallowing and feeding disorders. She is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Medical College of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Dr. Arvedson received her BS, MS, and PhD from University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is an ASHA Fellow and recipient of Honors of ASHA.

Dr. Arvedson focuses on patient care, teaching, and research on swallowing and feeding disorders in infants and children, delivering evidence-based knowledge and immediately applicable strategies via workshops and seminars throughout the world. She emphasizes a functional “whole” child approach stressing the importance of collaboration among professionals and caregivers.

She has two self-study publications for continuing education through ASHA Professional Development www.asha.org/shop: Evaluation of pediatric feeding and swallowing (2017) and Management of Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing (2014). She has 3 books: Interpretation of Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies of Infants and Children: A study guide to improve diagnostic skills and treatment planning, Northern Speech Services; Pediatric Swallowing and Feeding: Assessment and Management, 3rd edition, 2020, (L. Dr. Arvedson has numerous articles in peer reviewed journals.
